Our top five multi-generational holidays:
The Sacred Valley, Southern Peru (best visited March-October)
Start the holiday at a lower altitude in Peru’s wondrous Sacred valley. There are beautiful hideaway lodges that provide ideal bases from which to enjoy a multitude of experiences; visiting lesser known Inca gems with our expert historical guides, hiking remote pathways and visiting Inca villages. Each day will be meticulously planned to provide the group with new adventures to suit a different range of interests, whilst allowing plenty of time for a deluxe family picnic lunch set up in the middle of the mountains or on the edge of a remote lake.
Cape Town and Safari in South Africa (best visited September-May)
So many people worry about the endless travel involved on a family holiday but it doesn’t have to be that way. A week at Tswalu’s Tarkuni offers a private house in a stunning non-malarial wilderness area. Guides can keep everyone of all ages entertained with everything from game drives to meerkat viewing, sleep-outs, horse-riding, helicopter flips and so much more. Combine with a week in the Cape Town area for beach life, the art scene and some incredible food and wine along the way.
A private charter in the Galapagos Islands (can be visited almost all year round)
The Galapagos is easily up there as one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences. We can guide you through choosing the perfect vessel with the right crew and guides: key to a comfortable, educational and memorable experience. It will be a journey of discovery for all ages; learn about the many different endemic species and about their evolution and habitat, all in the company of expert naturalist and charismatic guides. Back on board, enjoy swimming, snorkelling and kayaking off the boat and each day the crew will prepare memorable family dinners alfresco under the stars.
An Estancia experience in Argentina (best visited November-April)
Taking over a beautiful estancia in Argentina’s lake district is high up on our list for family get- togethers. We love the country’s remote rural places that are both distant and different allowing us to withdraw and reflect. We work with owner-run estancias chosen for their mesmerising landscapes, comfort and charming hospitality. Summer days in the lakes are long and families naturally sink into a blissful routine; morning adventure (hiking, riding, fly fishing) followed by a long lunch, an even longer siesta and then the adventure starts again in the cool of the early evening before a late supper by the campfire.
Malilangwe Private Reserve, Zimbabwe (best visited May-October)
The not-for-profit Malilangwe Trust was established as a result of the largest ever single-donor investment in Zimbabwe, in order to purchase and protect 130,000 acres of extraordinary wilderness. Set high in the hills amongst dramatic boulders, Pamushana lodge offers guests a piece of luxury, whilst the money goes towards protecting the surrounding wildlife and communities. In addition to normal safari activities, all ages can enjoy sunset cruises, fishing on the dam, archery, stargazing and community visits
